Community Foundation in your city

Now you have the opportunity to establish a community foundation in your city!

Your initiative:

- Send or share this idea to the persons who could influence your community.

- Identify at least two other persons in your community that can contribute with time, expertise or financially at the creation and functioning of a community foundation.

- Read the functioning principles and mechanisms of community foundations and other informative materials on this site. 

- Prepare and send a motivation letter which documents the interest and contribution of the initiative group and the potential of a community foundation in your city. 

- Answer to additional information requests, and in the case of selection, participate at the meetings with the program staff and agree to the next steps.

Send the motivation letter at contact@fundatiicomunitare.ro until March 19, 2010.

 

The letter must comprise:

 

1. The identification data of the initiator: name, address, phone, e-mail;

2. The geographic area proposed for the community foundation: name of the city/area, number of inhabitants in this area;

3. The motivation of involving in such a community foundation: what are the benefits the foundation would bring to your area/community, what priority needs of the community could be efficiently addressed through the foundation, what exactly motivates you to be involved;

4. Bring arguments to the feasibility of such a foundation in this area: what exactly makes you think that a community foundation would be successful given the specific of your community;

5. Information on the initiative group (minimum 3 persons): the name of the persons, relevant experience of the initiative group members, history of cooperation between the members of the initiative group;

6. The role and contribution of the initiative group members: the role that each member of the group intends to have in the long term development of the foundation (for example, member in the board of directors, in the executive team of the foundation, volunteer, donor); the time contribution  that each member can offer in the next 12 months.

7. Other resources: beyond the contribution of the initiative group members and of the national program, what local resources can be successfully accessed by the community foundation.

8. Recommendations: list the names and contact information for at least 2 relevant persons in the community (from a public institution, nonprofit, media or from a business company) that can give references upon request on the experience and history of cooperation with the members of the initiative group.
