On March 19, 2010 Odorheiu Secuiesc Community Foundation hosted the first edition of the ‘Community Builder Awards'. The awards celebrated real actions that benefited the community. Awards were handed out for the following categories: Corporate, Individuals, NGOs, Media, and Impressions - this last category rewarding an individual/institution that had a major impact on the community in the past.
The nominees included both major actions like the Community Card, and smaller-scale actions in the nearby villages. The Community Card, a recent prizewinner at the People for People Gala, has more than 1,000 users in Odorhei. With this card, families get shopping discounts, whilst Odorheiu Secuiesc Community Foundation gets 1% of the total worth of these purchases to support local projects. Another nominee was a kindergarten from a nearby village which had raised funds and refurbished its facilities with the help of the parents from the village.
